Andy admits to having found crabs in his trousers!

There are something’s that sound better in your head than they do out-loud and finding crabs is one of them.

Well that’s what Andy has just discovered when this picture was taken and he is beginning to see that people are making up their own punch lines.

What he actually said was that during the longest race of the year when the conditions deteriorated and the racing dinghies sailors moved into survival mode he was on the support boat. He and Alan Copson did a wonderful job of helping the sailors who were overpowered by the force 8 that swept over them and at one point a wave broke across the dory drenching Andy and washing a two inch wide crab out of his trouser leg.

He was not able to say how it had got in there or how long it had been resident, it may have been just passing through with the wave that went down his neck.

Andy, as sailing secretary, passed out the trophies. This mostly entailed him putting all the single handed trophies on his chair and giving the rest to Nigel and James. It must also be said that Peter Bailes collected a fair few.

Andy is stepping down from the position of sailing secretary next year to give another the opportunity to do the job. The position is one of the hardest on the committee and I am sure that all the racing members of the club would agree that he has done a fabulous job over the last 3 years and will be a hard act to follow. Fortunatly Alan Copson will be taking up the position and, as anyone who has seen him sail will know, life is never dull when Alan is around.
